The new version of DCision ERP, version 11 is officially launched and available. This version was developed with the OpenEdge 11 programming language, the most recent version from our partner Progress. The use of OpenEdge version 11 brings us new features and possibilities for developing modern tools while continuing to maintain excellent database performance. Indeed, we often hear of cases where the performance decreases dramatically with certain software due to a limit in the number of records or the volume of users which is rarely the case with Progress. In addition, we consider that this programming language / database manager avoids many computer bugs that can occur with languages less strongly related to the database manager.
On the more technical side, with this new version, we are introducing the use of interfaces developed with Microsoft « .Net » tools and « Infragistics », allowing the development of more powerful and advanced tools. Thus, DCision ERP continues to evolve and stay on the cutting edge.
Here is an overview of some additions and modifications to this new version of DCision ERP:
New menu management with a new toolbar including, among other things, a new quick access to the opening of one of its last sessions, direct access to the stock on hand consultation and to the calendar. In addition, the elements of « My menu », that is to say items from the regular menu chosen by the user, appear directly on this toolbar. The annotations, these notes kept by the user in each window, are now kept in a database allowing easier sharing between users.
- Addition of a file management that can be imported into a database. These files can be linked to product definition, documents and document lines. For example, you can associate images with each product, its diagrams and user guides which can then be printed or emailed at time of shipment. You can also keep the documents and emails associated with a purchase order and a quote, which is particularly useful when these documents contain specifications for custom production.
- Addition of Request For Quotation Management (« RFQ ») using Excel files to send suppliers a list of products so that they can bid and indicate their available quantity. When the files are returned, they can be imported to update the supplier list of products and to automatically generate the lines of a purchase order.
- Improvement in the document consultations to be able to restrict the selection to a number of months to speed up the selection. In addition, consultation of the files linked to the documents is directly accessible here.
- Addition of a new batch / serial number traceability tool to make it easier and faster to « drill down » to get the origin of components or their use.
