DCision ERP Traceability Management

We briefly explain in this article what is Lot Tracking (Traceability) Management and how DCision ERP manages it.

As its name suggests, traceability is the ability to trace the history of inventoried products, from purchase order to sale, including production. If these are manufactured products, it allows you to know when they were manufactured, where, by whom, etc. It also makes it possible to know which productions then consumed them, in the case of sub-assemblies, to whom they were sold or if there is any left in inventory.

The use of traceability is optional and depends on the nature of the products and the type of business. In a very controlled world, for example in the pharmaceutical, food or electronics industries, it is essential: In the event of a problem detected on a manufactured product, it is necessary to be able to quickly trace all the production batches and all the sales that are affected by this problem, without exception. Likewise, if the problem comes from a purchased part, it allows you to know from which batch (lot number) and from which supplier this part comes from and to consult the history of the part to know where its use.

Traceability is more restrictive than the data entry of products that do not require it. Indeed, it requires more steps and data to enter transactions, it requires managing serial numbers and sometimes expiration dates. We have therefore designed tools to simplify the entry of data relating to lot / serial traceability, whether on the side of inventory entries or sales and consumption.

DCision ERP includes reports, analysis and other on-screen tools to allow users to trace the history of a particular serial number or an entire batch (lot). Label printing management with bar codes is also available.

Finally, in addition to the lot tracking, the functionalities of the quality control steps of the products received or manufactured can be used as well as the management of the history of the records which makes it possible to know the users who entered the data and when they were entered . In addition, import management of external documents (diagrams, compliance vouchers, emails, quality control documents, etc.) allows important documents to be kept with products and transactions, allowing them to be consulted as needed. This is another example of tools related to lot traceability that DCision ERP users have at their disposal.
